First Montessori School of Atlanta

Support

The Annual Fund
Like most independent, private schools, First Montessori relies on Annual Fund donations to help meet the school’s annual operating budget. Tuition alone does not cover the costs of educating our students in a stellar Montessori environment. We ask each family to make a contribution to the Fund each year. We also ask support of the Faculty/Staff and Trustees; we are proud to say that both groups have established a tradition of 100% participation in recent years.

The school accepts checks, credit cards, appreciated securities and cash donations to the Annual Fund. All gifts must be made within the current fiscal year in order to be counted into that year’s Annual Fund. Please contact the Development Office for more information and a pledge form.

Capital Campaign: “Bringing Nature, Nurture and Knowledge to Life”
First Montessori’s Capital Campaign, Bringing Nature, Nurture and Knowledge to Life, was launched in 2006 in order to raise funds for Phase I of the Campus Master Plan. Construction began in Summer ’07 on two new buildings and on related campus improvements, including additional parking. Once completed, the Elementary classroom building will include all Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary classes, in addition to Enrichment and Fine Arts space. The new Media Center building will house the printed library collection and will include a conference/meeting room.

Both buildings were designed in keeping with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) specifications. Exterior “green” features will include geothermal heating and cooling, rainwater harvesting, a highly reflective roof system, solar shading screens, and windows with a special ultraviolet rating. Interior “green” features will include low VOC paints and floor finishes, recycled content floor tiles, and low flush toilets. The classrooms will incorporate a lot of natural light and elements from the outside world, reflecting Montessori’s focus on nature.

Capital Campaign donations have been generously made by current parents, past parents, Trustees, Alumni, Faculty/Staff, Grandparents, Friends, Neighbors and Foundations. The school accepts checks, appreciated securities and cash donations to the Capital Campaign. Pledges can be made over a period of three years. Please contact the Development office for more information and a pledge form.

First Montessori Alumni
As a 43-year old institution, First Montessori has thousands of alumni who have spent time as students in our various programs. Each year, we invite alumni to come back to the school to participate in our Montessori Mile fun-run. Alumni also serve on the Board of Trustees and participate on Alumni Panel Discussions during our Open House events.

We are actively updating our alumni database and would like to include your information! Families of currently enrolled students and prospective families are always interested in the activities of our alumni. Alumni are featured regularly in the school news paper and at Open House and Opening Night events. If you are an FMSA alumnae/alumnus and would like to be included in our alumni outreach program, please contact the Development Office for an Alumni Update Form. We’d love to keep in touch with you and get you involved again in the life of our wonderful school!
